Batarita
Batarita, after having been envolved in several dance and theatre project, created her first dance piece in 1999. As now she is one of the most significant choreographers of the Hungarian dance scene who works and presents dance pieces all over the world.
She has won the Jury Special Prize at the 2nd Solo Festival at Trafo House of Contemporary Arts in 2001, the 1st Prize and Audience Special Prize at the 1st Duet Festival also at House of Contemporary Arts in the year 2002. In Kalisz, Polnad her piece "Yours...?!" get the 1st Prize of the 9th International Contemporary Dance Festival 2003.
At the beginning her works are based on her research in psychology, specailsed on instincts and distress. She was developing her style by experimenting the body's suddenness and its innovations through expressivity and abstraction. Her choreographic works become live by the flows of energies and the emotionful acting.
Working with artists from other fields took an important role in the creative process. Contemporary composers and visual artist are the choreographer's permanent colleagues.
The first significant step towards butoh dance was made in 2003 by the meeting with Carlotta Ikeda, the butoh dancer-choreographer in 2003. Ikeda was the first master who declared the choreographer a butoh dancer.
